Powerline adaptor dropping internet connection

Hi all

I uprooted all my sprawling network cables a while ago and replaced them with powerline adapters. The problem I have is that the adapters fairly regularly will drop the Internet connection for a few minutes at a time. The local network remains accessible. I know the Internet connection is still up as I can access sites fine over wifi.

Does anyone know why these adapters might keep dropping the Internet connection? It's incredibly frustrating to say the least!

Many thanks

M.

It could be absolutely anything. I get the same problem and have found one problem. Each time my kid makes a noise his monitor goes off and cuts my connection, though it still sometimes drops on the odd occasion nobody is in the house. I've unplugged everything to find the other cause and have found nothing.

I made the decision a while ago to hard wire my PC and have bought all the cable and trunking. I just don't have the balls to start drilling into the ceilings to run it through the attic.

a good screwdriver is probably all you need, but maybe a trip up to the attic to see where any power or water supplies run first could help?

Personally I think a router and/or switch up in the loft then run all your cables down the exterior of the house and in through a window to where you want them is a good solution and generally your ISP's are happy placing a router in a loft.
