Powerline - Electric socket to ethernet.

We got a pair to try and connect the router in my room to my brother's PC in the basement. They never seemed to work for us. :(

I think the basic principle works well and would be quite a good solution if you can't run an Ethernet cable between two PCs etc. :)

I use 3 around the house for piping across 1MBit ADSL to the otherside of the house (its a long house) where that gets split over to Pre-N Wireless and another down stairs for my NMT Player. It's good for around a real world 5MB/sec - which is great if you dont need 100% speed. :)

I use the Devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy.

Works a treat :)

Those are the older 14 mbps ones , for the same price look for 85 mbps.

Otherwise very easy to use aand a revalation if you have problematic wifi aor dont want wires

Use them at both my parents houses, had a unit die due to overheating but other than that they are solid unless, despite their warnings, they do work in extension leads and have had no issues at my dads houses where the path takes it through 2 breaker boxes before getting to the master

its a perfect solution if wireless isnt viable and neither is cabling your house with cat5

using 14mbps units at 1 and 85mbps units at the other

I have 2 of the 85mbps ones with the 4 ports on them. .they are superb and work really well... :) Some of us are in rented houses and cannot go drilling and throwing cables over the roof so this is a perfect answer ;)
