Hey guys,

So I've moved house and have woeful internet at the upstairs back rooms of the house. I currently have 2 TP link powerline plugs connecting my lads internet to the back of the house. I don't have much experience with wifi extenders.

If I buy a TP link wifi extender and plug it in upstairs, will it talk to the same brand ethernet powerline plugs? Or do I need to get another kit?

Thanks in advance

FYI I'm running a Linksys 6300 from a sky SR102 hub.

Additional, im currently using these plugs

All Powerline adapters (ignoring some of the really old ones) will, in theory, talk to each other.

You'll need to pair the new adapter with the existing ones. The steps for that will be in the instructions.

If thats the theory, Im having a real problem connecting a devolo 500 adapter to the network. Just keeps returning "failed to get an ip address"

All of the adapters need to be using the same encryption keys.

As they are different makes connecting them using the pairing buttons might not work (assuming you've tried pairing them).

There should be utility software from both manufacturers that'll allow you to change the encryption keys to match.

Thank you friend, that last comment summed it up. All powerlines now talking to each other. Reckon you've saved me about £30 there :)
