Hi all,

I am looking into using powerline networking in my home, but my bedroom only has two wall sockets.

I am looking at getting some 85 mbps adapters and was wondering what the effect will be of running them through an extension lead.

Im guessing I will lose some signal, but can anyone recommend getting them, or not whilst using an extension lead?

Cheers

hi,
i run one off an extension lead (xbox360 and the laptop sometimes) as there is very few main sockets in one room. Have experienced no problems with connectivity at all.
i think the homeplug people dont really recommend it but needs must in my case...

Thats exactly what I want to here :)

I guess you use it for xbox live as well then, which is exactly what I want it for.

Thanks

Totally agree - the powerline folks state that they won't work on the other side of a surge protector, but mine works just fine.

No detectable loss of speed or performance on a surge protected 4 gang.

Can't recommend powerline highly enough, the combo of convenience, reliability and ease of install is hard to beat. I'm not a fan of consumer-grade wireless and I hate tracking walls to put in Cat5.
