Powerline plug issue

I have a pair of TP Link powerline plugs and there both connected to wall sockets and not via an extension cord.

The problem I'm having is that the plug connected to my boxee box is all working fine (all 3 lights are green) but as soon as I begin to stream something my powerline light goes out and the streaming capabilities drop dramatically but then when I back out of the video streaming all lights go green.

Thoughts?

I believe that a solid green LED just indicates that the adapters are connected, it doesn’t indicate how good the connection is. Some adapters use multi-coloured LEDs to indicate the connection quality, but AFAIK the TP-Link adapters don’t do this.

If the LED is completely off that should indicate that the link is down (which presumably is isn't if you're getting some throughput). Is the LED just flashing to indicate that data is being transferred?

Have you installed the Powerline Utility software to check the reported connect speeds and diagnostics?

It will flash to indicate data is being transfered but then it completely goes off only when I'm streaming something which is odd.

Nothing I haven't installed the software, I'm on a mac and it doesn't appear to have a version for osx.
