Powerline with pass through and surge protector

I am looking at buying some powerlines. My problem is that downstairs (where one of the powerlines will be) is that I only have one socket.

Will I be able to buy a powerline (with a pass through), plug that into the socket then plug my surge protected extension into the pass through? Will it affect performance?
