Lets start by just saying this is absolutely not a guide and you shouldn't do anything I'm doing because I'm an idiot.
My previous build (after getting bored of my gigantic Phanteks case), was shoehorning a full ATX board (I really wish I'd bought microATX when I first built this system...) and a 970 into an ancient Lenovo OEM case I found on ebay for peanuts.
Complete with Sempron & Windows XP stickers I was quite pleased. The eagle-eyed out there might notice on the left my PSU is very much on the outside. Unfortunately I never got around to finding a way of making this internal...
Anyway after 2 years with this as my setup I visited my parents and found my old PowerMac G5 looking sorry for itself, I always really liked the case and thought... how hard can it be to make everything fit...
So I started by gutting it,
This is where it's apparent that you shouldn't use this as a guide. I am insanely lazy and love to cut a corner so i started by taping over everything metal that could make contact with the motherboard.
One of the standoff type things that Apple had used was much too tall so I had to cut that one...
Luckily one thing Apple did maintain is the standard PCI mountings, so I could use these the line everything up. I put the board in and screwed my graphics card into the mountings to see where everything would fit.
It took up more room than I was expecting...
Next up is to install some actual ATX standoffs and lots more cutting!
