Got a free Powermac G5 from work I am trying to get onto my wireless network.

Went out and bought a Pluscom wifi PCI card (Seems to be a Ralink) it installed fine but when you try to connect to a network it causes the machine to panic and needs a restart.

Also tried new drivers they install fine but don't do anything when you try to open the app.

The official airport cards seem expensive Is there anything that definitely works? Its currently running Leopard .

I bit the bullet and bought an airport card for my Mac Pro....expensive, but it works flawlessly :)

What type of Airport card would I need? looks likes there's a few different types.

Not sure, where I ordered mine from but I basically just put in my mac pro details and it said you need 'this' one - Its a little circuit board which screws in and attached to some antenna that were already wired into the case.

With the Apple internal card, you also need a separate antenna that clips in to the hole on the back of the G5, don't you?

The official Apple "T shaped" one is probably hard to find or goes for silly money. Though it does use a standard connector, so you can get a cheap alternative.
