Powerpoint presentation on ubuntu- Possible???

Yeah OpenOffice should be able to open a Powerpoint file unless its Office 2007 and a new file format that OpenOffice doesn't recognise; you might have a problem then.

what about if i save the presentation in 2007 as a 2003 file will it recognise it then??

That should be fine. Its just that OpenOffice hasn't had a major release/upgrade since Office 2007 was released, * I think. *

Saving it to an Office 2003 version would work.
