powerpoint problem!

Can anyone help with this problem i am having? I have been given a powerpoint presentation and have used this as a template to build my presentation. However, although on my monitor i can see my presentation, when i print it off, i get the original presentation!!

I cannot see anywhere in my presentation where the original pics and text are, all i can see is my stuff!

forget it - i am a total noob! I wanted to print out the notes i had made and so needed to select "print notes" in printer settings, not the actual show itself.

Very nice piece of software, but a nightmare in the hands of a noob.
