PowerVR doing another Q&A session

Maybe if they were trying to compete with amd and nvidia it would be something of note. Their last hurrah for pc was the kyro 2 4500, and that was back in 2001....

They had the Series2 R2500 desktop card in 2013 and among other cards in that line. OK not a gaming card but still a very interesting card.

And this is in the PC graphics cards section because...?
They do graphic IP from mobile, console, desktop to high end server. It’s also a chance to ask about the ray tracing technology which can do graphics that current PC desktop cards cannot dream off. There has been a lot of talk about a hybrid ray tracing technology chip to run alongside a traditional polygon based renderer. The best of both worlds and this is the ideal time to ask questions.

If they did come back into the PC gaming space it would be better for the consumers. More competition needed. Too bad Matrox, S3 and PowerVR gave up too easily.

No surprise tbh, they were always pretty much on the edge, although I was quite surprised when Nv acquired 3Dfx. The desktop discrete GPU market is a dog eat dog world, even the likes of Intel noped out of this business. We're lucky to have both AMD and Nvidia creating GPUs that compete with each other in performance.

With luck we should see some nice jumps soon in graphics to cope with what vr will need to run good and this can only be good for us in the long run
