Im fair new to folding... but thought id ask to see if im doing ok :

On this rig (one in sig) im using the CLI SMP Client and on my Media Center 3Ghz P4 im just using the Normal CLI Client... Is that right... i know my p4 doesnt have Dual Core... but it shows as dual core in task manager and also only seems to be using about 50% of each? Confused! lol

Oh but basically my question is... im using FahMon and it says 1495.2 PPD, is that any good?

Thanks! :D

yes to smp, on sig rig
yes to standard client in P4 (if it a hyper threading P4 you could run 2x standard clients for 1.4x the points - but at best it still only around 150ppd for a P4 - lot's for heat and eletric for small amount of extra ppd (then again every little helps)

1500ppd is good for a single machine

In this ever-green day and age I would personally retire the P4.

Every little helps, sure, but I believe in intelligent application of resources and the P4 doesn't represent much bang for buck. It's the reason I don't run my PS3 which would add 900 ppd... but more than double my power consumption.

I sit in the middle on this one - install F@H (as service) and it will fold when used
Folding uses about 50w more that a P4 at idle.

But I would not personally run it 24/7 as the electric used would buy you a C2D and mobo in under a year (£150).

Where as £260-300 of electric is the 24/7 cost of a dedicated quad cruncher - for 20x the points!

There would also be a small saving on your heating bill but not enough to off set the electric bit

I take it back slightly - I glossed over the fact it was a HTPC and on anyway. In which case yes F@H is justifiable. The way I see it, a PC with F@H installed on it is never wasting electricity.
