Totally new to this so be kind :)

cpu showing around 20K ppd but gpu only 1600 each?

Is something wrong or is that the way it should be?

Expected the gpus to be doing more than cpu or is it project dependent?

If thats the case then is there a way to just fold using cpu as the gpus use a lot more power but are not worth it really cost wise?

Cheers :)

edit: running windows 10 and 14.9 drivers

hi

usaly gpus need a while to show there true PPD, also you need to of completed 10 work units before you get the bouns points from them, shouldn't take you to long to get to 10 work units, also you need to reserve a cpu core for you gpu. you should be getting 40/50k from a 6970

you need to have a aswell for bouns if you don't already have one

Ok cheers :)

Will let it run a while and see.

Was just that it was showing 10 days to complete what it was doing for each gpu but cpu was showing 15 hours?

both gpus working flat out.

Both showing up in the slots part

edit: paused cpu folding and just using gpus and making no difference so far.....work unit for each card is worth 17k but 10 days to complete...percentage marker moving up very very slowly...

Spec as in sig and project 1300 for gpu 6095 for cpu

edit: fahcore_17.exe showing up in task manager for the gpus i guess ( as theres 2 of them) each using 12% of my cpu total.

Once you start getting Core_17's then your passkey will start being qualified. You need to get 10 of them qualify your passkey and maintain an 80% successful return rate to get QRB points on Core_17's.

cheers guys...PPD going up a fair bit now...cards showing age though...not as high as expected yet but not done enough WUs yet.

Wife appreciating the flow of heat from my work room too :)

Prob better value for money than stupid storage heaters :)

ppd gone up quite a bit but only getting around 50K...20k from cpu and 15k from each card
15 units done now.

Have tried dropping cores down to see if that helps to give gpus more but it doesnt.

Going by previous comment should i not be expecting around 100K a day with 2 cards and cpu running?

Could be a driver issue i guess but reluctant to try older one as would probably have problems with xfire and cod:aw.

2nd rig doing 20k a day from just an i5 (@4.5GHz) as no decent gpu in there.

Originally folding at home didn't give that good results on AMD GPUs and was more suited to Nvidia. At some point over the last year or so that did change as they brought out new software, but it might not have applied to all AMD cards? Today I don't know which of AMD or nvidia is preferred.

mmm seems 15k is normal for a 6970 from what i read :(

Not worth running the pair of them flat out for 30K when i can get 26K from cpu alone and use a fraction of the juice and 20k out of 2nd rig.

Saw someone mention on a forum of a 7970 doing 100k+..big jump up,

A pair of 970s would be nice but hanging on till end of next year before major gpu upgrade (and 4k monitor i hope) as only play cod and what i have is adequate for that just now still although at medium settings of course as at 1440p

My HD280x would be doing around 120k PPD if I had 24/7 internet. In fact on the current WU it's projecting over 140k/day
At stock it's nearer 100k/day.

I didn't realise slightly older cards like 6970 were so poor for the real life performance they offer!

well I dunno what's going on with my Midas rig and my 780Ti's that machine is reporting PPD at only 36k !! I dunno what's gone wrong

EDIT

Ok just left Midas machine running for a while and the PPD is slowly climbing up now reporting 195k

Up at 60k a day now as gpus doing 20k each...better but more would be nice...

ahh just realised i changed gpu driver last night for cod:aw do thats why the extra 5k per card.

Maybe an older driver would suit them better but cant be doing that :(
