Ive treated myself to a huge 34" Acer x34a and my wife is still stuck on some cheap iiyama 24" 1080p panel and has been nagging me to get her a larger monitor.

Had a quick scout around and saw you can get cheap 1080p monitors in say 27-28" for like £150, just wondering how bad would the PPI be on 1080p that close on a larger size?

She probably wouldnt be bothered anyway, she only browses and plays sims 4 etc, and shes got bad eyesight anyway so larger pixels probably be better anyway haha

I can only compare it to my 1440p, so it's a little unfair, but my girlfriend had a 27" 1080p and it looked horrible. Everything looked blurry in comparison.

yeah reason why holding off on the 34" 1080p. It may be ok for games, but low PPI means you need AA, I'd rather have higher resolution and less or no need for AA, and it'll look better anyway, plus look best for desktop rather than making do with low PPI in games and desktop.

Using 1920x1200 24" and I would want to keep it to about 95ppi.

If your sticking with 1080 don't go any higher than a 24" . I'd look at getting a 2560x1440 27" for a bigger monitor and upgrade for her.

On the flipside if she has bad eyesight the dpi increase will require Windows scaling - best make sure that works in whatever apps she uses.

I run my 27" 1440p at 133% which gives smooth text at the same size of a 1080p display - looks far better than the 27" 1080p native screen I have collecting dust.

Personally I'd love a 27" 4k display at 200% scaling. Even with poor eyesight you still benefit from smooth fonts - feels so much nicer to read.

She's not got shockingly bad eyesight, just don't think she would be bothered if it was a little blocky. She's not really a clued up on pc's kinda person. How much we talking for a budget 27" 1440p?
Only other concern is her pc is basically old parts from mine, so I want it to run smoothly if it's at a higher Rez
