Whats ppl view on the Silverstone Strider Essential Bronze range of psu.

any good for gaming rigs or are they just for day to day PC's

They are ok for a general purpose pc but i wouldn't use one in a gaming pc. I built a pc for the sister in law with a stupidly tight budget and managed to pick one of these up on Ebay, brand new for £11 delivered!! It was the 400w version and has a weak 12v rail at only 300w but is only powering a Pentium G3220, Asrock H81-HDS, SSD, HDD, DVDRW, 2x2Gb DDR3 1600mhz ram and a couple of fans. It is very quiet but that pc pulls less than 60w loaded so is not putting any strain on the psu. Only the 24pin cable is braided and even that is low quality. There are not many connectors either, just the bare minimum to get by.

Sirtec is the OEM on most of the units with FSP being the OEM for the Gold rated units.
