Hi all,

I've just had FTTP installed and will now be using my 5G connection as a failover.

The BT hub does not support bridge mode so I want to bypass the hub and take the line direct to the ERX (was suggested to me on another platform).

I like this idea as its one less box to power and less clutter.

I've created pppoe0 on eth0. have removed dhcp from eth0

I can see an IP address on the UI dashboard but the connection is not working.

I added pppoe0 interface to the firewall rules.

I've added the interface to the loadballance configs (tried with eth0 and without).

I cannot get this to work.

Does anyone have any pointers/advice?

Thanks in advance.

Soogs

Can you ping from the router itself? I would guess your NAT masquerade rule is still on eth0.
I added pppoe0 interface to the existing rules.
I added it to the loadbalance/failover.

I double checked this just now and for some reason its not even picking up the ipaddress now.

just to be clear, im bypassing the bt hub altogether and doing straight to the fibre/ethernet point on the wall.

I cannot see pppoe0 in the routing table though... not sure if this is ok as it still passes through eth0 which is in the table?

I would flatten the ER-X and use the basic setup wizard to get it going, picking PPPoE as the connection type.

As above, new wizard and set up as PPPoE and DHCP.

Make sure you are selecting the correct WAN/Lan ports and it should be good.

I'll copy my CFG later and message you it if helps, i'm BT FTPP and Edgrouter X too

Have you assigned the WAN port and the LAN port the DHCP server is using?

I've given this a few tries now and think I'm going to use the wizard as mentioned and if that doesnt work just restore my current setup.
need to make a note of all my static IPs and VLANs before breaking stuff lol

Will post back with the results

OK so turns out I did forget to add pppoe0 to the NAT masquerade rule.

I did this and the rest from my OP and it did kinda work with issues. I think the MTU is not right as vlans are not working and some sites are breaking.

I've lowered the MTU by 8 and tested each time but its just not playing ball.

that would be sweet thanks

Gonna give this another go today with a slightly different approach.

Going to use the wizard to create a load balanced pppoe setup but change the default network to something else and then add the 1.1 network as vlan 1 and this should fix the issue i was having before with vlans not working
