pprobably a very silly question

this prob the most noobie question ever but, do i need to buy different parts for a laptop than i wud a normal pc. ie hard drives or gfx wud i have to buy smaller ones that fit laptops. or do gfxs or hds that fit pcs also fit laptops.

Most laptops have onboard graphics. Hard drives are smaller yes. 2.5" instead of 3.5" Hope that helps

And....
AFAIK the only things in most laptops that can be upgraded easily are memory, hard drive and battery.
Some laptops need special fixings for the hard drives.
