PQ5 Sata

My PQ5 Pro board has 8 Sata connectors but only six of them seem to work like normal Sata connectors? E1 and E2 wont boot my system drive? in the bios there set to IDE are the E connectors only for drive expert? and can i use them if i use raid? as part of the raid set up? if not have i only got six Sata if i don't wont or need "drive expert EZ back up"

If it is anything like P5Q Deluxe than there should be an option in BIOS: Advanced -> Onboard devices -> enable Marvell IDE and then enable Marvell boot. I can definitely boot this way. For RAID you can use max of 6 SATA II ports from ICH10R controller and then maybe (not sure - probably not) you can use those two Marwell ports for another RAID consisting of two drives - never tried it though and there is little point in it I think (even if it worked). If you need more than 6 ports for single array then you'll have to buy a dedicated RAID card.

Hmmm using two of the six ports for disk drives, leaving me four ports for my raid witch is what i woz looking at anyway for now, four 250GB drives at raid 10

i do have two 1TB drives i use for storage, one empty at mo i could mirror the hardly full one on the other in E1 and E2 then as well as my above raid
