So then got my practical driving test tomorrow, my third attempt and hopefully my last! I'm getting a bit nervous at the mo, i drive well and safely, use the MSM tips, maneuverer's all aok, i just keep thinking im gonna balls it all up somewhere and probably be on something stupid, any small tips anyone can give??

Check Mirrors Before turning - When speeding up - When slowing down - ect.. the instructor wants to see you can drive well and stay calm.

and if he fails you give him a score for a pass.

Good Luck! :D

use the MSM Tips

They arent tips, you dont use them you will fail, if theres one thing they will drop you for its observation, same goes for your menouvers.

Its natural, if you relax and drive safley, the instructor will feel safe and he will pass you, if you think you have made a fatal error, ignore it, carry on. It might be only a minor, that was my fatal flaw on my first test, and it screwed my frame of mind up for the rest of the test, in the end the only mistake I had made was after the original :)

As I said above, think positive... if you come thinking like that you will fail :)

All the above, plus a red bull and Banana. Take it easy and good luck mate :)

i sat my test a few weeks ago, best thing to do is just think of it as another lesson, dont focus too hard on what your doing, thats when you start making mistakes, if you've put in for your test you are completly capable of doing it, its drummed into your head already you shouldnt have to sit there and think everything through, so dont try too hard(if you know what i mean).
the best thing you can do is keep your mind on what he tells you to do, that should relax you, always know whats going on around you, you can account for yourself on the test but you cant account for all the other idiots on the road, dont let yourself get into a difficult position because of some other idiot.

and as said by others, if you make a mistake, no matter how serious you may think it is, just forget about it and keep going as if it never happened, the mistake itself might have been serious but depending on the overall situation may dictate wether its a minor or a serious.

i had that gut wrenching moment when you know you did something wrong, i had just performed an emergency stop, when moving off(only stationary for a few secs) i checked mirrors, but only glanced slightly to my right, i knew there clearly wasnt a car in sight and so did the examiner, but because i didnt check my blind spot properly had had to mark it down, didnt know what it was down as at the time, but i was kicking myself inside, but i couldnt let that get to me, got on with it and finished the test, when we got back in, he told me i passed, that was my only fault, a single minor for a stupid mistake, but could have easily been a serious even a dangerous.

cancentsate on one thing at a time. don't think too far ahead. if he says turn left, pay attention to what you are doing. don't worry about where you are going or what else he's asking you to do

remember those pesky blind spots, mirrors are your friend, NEVER focus on what the examiner is doing, if you can try and talk to him, mine was very difficult to get to talk (he was the stations chief examiner, but i got him chatting eventually)

be awake and alert, but not hyper, its just another ralaxing lesson with manouvers....and a check sheet thats all, no more, no less.

remember to check behind you on turn in the road, it may seem pointless, but it will cost you a minor on the manouver aslong as it was safe

never skip on those things you were taught, doesnt matter how trivial they were, handbrake on inclines/long periods of being stationary and all that, they could all add up to failure

I had red bull and an apple before mine, passed as well so there may be something in it :D .

I cant really add much to whats been said but good luck with it. One thing my instructor told me which helped was, always check around to make sure its safe before attempting a maneuver. I used to have a quick check then get on with it as i thought id get marked down for hesitating. My instructor told me that wasn't the case and the examiner wont mind that your having a really good look around before starting. I found it also gave me a bit of time calm my nerves etc before doing the maneuver.

wont get done for hesitating for looking, will get done for observation if you dont ;)
I didn't mean not looking at all, i meant looking around like most drivers would before doing a maneuver, mirrors, blind spots, move off. On the test you can look around a good few times and take your time.

I made minor mistakes in both my driving test and riding exam that lead me to believe I had failed both within the first few mins, ie I touched the curb with tyre in car pulling up just outside of test centre, and I put a foot lightly down at a junction leaving test centre that had metal ramps when on the bike. Becuase of that I figured I had failed and relaxed totally as I thought what the hell in both circumstances. I passed both first time, so it's definateley all about relaxation. Not sure a red bull would help as isn't that a stimulant?

Oh and don't rush, on my reverse round a corner I had to wait ages as cars kept approaching, I mean I sat there waiting for many minutes. But it does pay to drive briskly elsewhere ie 32mph rather than 30.. gives the examiner time for a cuppa when you get back :)
