Pre-built PCs with Windows XP

My parents are thinking about getting their first PC. I'm running XP so figured the best option for them is to have XP too, so I can talk them though stuff :) That and they have no need for whistles and bells, just a basic system for surfing the net, watching the odd DvD etc.

I wanted to look at a few pre-built systems that had XP, to see if it's cheaper than me building and installing a system for them. I've got the monitor, keyboard and mouse and oodles of cable, so really it's just a barebone system with XP I'm looking for.

It's years since I bought a ready made system, so does anyone have any recommendations I can get quotes from?

Thanks,
Donna

You may as well get Vista, its the newer operating system and will be around and supported for a lot longer than XP will. You will still be able to talk them through how to use it - the basics are near enough the same as XP.

If its just the odd DVD and surfing then you can get a pre-built dell system for £250 without monitor/mouse - has windows vista home but I think you can "configure" it to have winxp if you so choose.

Aye, I didn't see the options to configure the budget Dell systems, but I'll have a shuffle through that.

I know Vista has it's fans, but usually when I upgrade OS's MS seem to shift things round so even being a fast learner, I just know there are going to be times when I have to ask others, so I can tell dad what to do :P At least with XP I know without looking where the gubbins are to change them. Unfortunately I'm living at the other end of the country so it's not a "come round at the weekend" thing, or I'd be like "yeah, get a cheap pc from these guys" and just put up with Vista's changes learning as I go.
