Just wondering what you guys think of this? I'm ready to click order tbh, cant be bothered with the hassle of building another PC for myself so looking at the pre built systems on the ocuk website. just really want a system that'll blow away all the modern games atm, mainly COD4. I will be using Windows XP pro dont know if that'll effect performance.

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 GO 2.40GHz Quad Core CPU Overclocked too a minimum of 3.30GHz and beyond. (8/9 x 400MHz - 1600MHz FSB)
- Tuniq Tower 120 Pro Blue LED Intel approved cooler
- Arctic Silver 5 Heatsink compound professionally hand installed by our technicians
- Abit IP35-Pro Intel P35 (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Award winning Crucial 4GB Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 CAS5
- 500GB Western Digital 16MB Cache SATA-2 Hard Drive
- NVIDIA 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) DirectX 10 Graphics Card
- Pioneer 112DBK 18x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
- Antec NINE HUNDRED Gamers ATX Case
- OCZ 1010W Next Generation Power Supply

£1,172.58 inc del.

any help appreciated.

wait a few weeks til the new 8800gts, apparently will beat the current gtx and should be cheaper!

if you don't want to wait see if there is a pre-built system with a 8800gt

EDIT: unless you are using xp 64bit 4gigs of memory is completely pointless

ahh right ok, so ill drop it down to 2gb of ram and when i finally take the plunge to vista ill upgrade to the 4gb.
now on the vid card why would you go with the gt over the gtx?

Well xp will see between 3.25-3.5 so its not completely pointless (but I do see where WarBird wa coming from).

As for the GT over the GTX, as far as I know the GTX is not much better then the GT, but costs an extra £100 minimum.

right ok gotcha.

ok so looking at the other pre-built systems i cam up with this.

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 GO 2.40GHz Quad Core CPU Overclocked too a minimum of 3.30GHz and beyond. (8/9 x 400MHz - 1600MHz FSB)
- Tuniq Tower 120 Pro Blue LED Intel approved cooler

- Abit IP35-Pro Intel P35 (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Award winning Crucial 2GB Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 CAS5 (2x1GB) Dual Channel Kit (Overclocked at 1000MHz+) (Note when upgrading to 4GB overclock drops to 3.10GHz-3.30GHz on CPU)
- 500GB Western Digital 16MB Cache SATA-2 Hard Drive
- NVIDIA 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) DirectX 10 Graphics Card
- Pioneer 112DBK 18x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
- Antec NINE HUNDRED Gamers ATX Case
- OCZ 600W Next Generation Power Supply

and the Total :£1,010.44 inc.

Ok I'm finally going to listen to everyone and build it myself... lol

I'm fed up of specin PC's up (don't know how you guys do it all the time for people like me.)

well anyway i came up with this just wondering what you guys thought, cheers.

spec001.J0PG

(still a grand, not far off what the pre-built is with a similar spec.. no?)

the psu is overkill a corsair 620 would be enough
i'd replace the raptor with a wd 500gb AAKS (also raptors are very noisey apparently and not much faster than the aaks for the price)
the case is personal preference so your choice.
if you're going to o/c the gfx card then just get the normal edition, o/c it and save another 20quid ;)

EDIT:
the q6600 in the bundle doesn't seem to be the energy efficient one :(

okie dokie cheers.

will revise it.

ok i made those changes (bar the gfx) I've actually overclocked before although I'm not really in "the know-how" of overclocking if you know what i mean so ill stick with that one.
got me down to £911.

oh ye and i'm thinking of changing that case, already hate it.

That case is really dear . The Akasa eclipse or the Lian-LI PC7+ would be a cheaper better choice IMO.

Thanks for all the replies guys, really appreciate it. Ok one last final spec up heres what i have:

STUPID STUPID STUPID question but looking at the sata cables on ocuk, what ones do i need for the hdd/dvdrw cos theres different types of sata (havent used sata before always been ide for me)

Hey bbK, regarding your specification.

The particular memory that you have chosen is a bit of an overkill. You only really need PC8500 memory if you are looking to overclock and a particular CPU that you have has a very low multiplier so the memory is able to keep up with the FSB (Front Side Bus). May I suggest either the OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2, which for the price it's currently selling at is unbeatable. If you are looking to overclock, you will be able to clock the Q6600 all the way up to 3.6GHz before you even have to touch the memory.

The other memory kit that you may be interested in is the OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2, once again, for the price, you just cant beat it. However please be aware if you are looking to overclock and take the Q6600 above the 3.6GHz mark then do not get this particular memory since most of the 2X 2GB kits out their are very limited in terms of overclocking potential. (If you are looking to get the above memory then you will need a 64-bit Operating System to be able to utilize it all, more on that later though :p)

You will not need to buy any extra cables for your system since the motherboard will already come with the sufficient ones.

Final note, have you already got an Operating System? :)
