Hey,

A couple of years back I purchased a pre-built Packard Bell as at the time I knew nothing about building my own and just wanted something then and there.

I am just wondering what the general feeling is towards being able to overclock factory made PC's like the one I have?

I am not expecting to be able to it's just a question that had been bugging me. I suspect the components wont be of high enough quality but i'm not sure.

What I have: (I am in serious need of an upgrade)

Q6600
A Packard Bell Motherboard (MCP73VT-PM)
3GB DDR2
Nvidia GeForce 7050 (On-board Graphics)
250W PSU

Nowadays that is a pretty weak system but back when I bought it I thought it was great value for money. The on-board graphics are terrible and the 250W holds me back from upgrading.

I am a student but my summer job will get me something nice I hope.

unlikley to be able to OC as big manafcturers cut corners on components. Even if you manage to OC it it may well not last long.

Better option rip the guts out by an OC bundle and leave the hassle behind.
