Pre-installed Windows and Office: Do I Own The Licence Keys?

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a Dell laptop which comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1. I'm also paying to have Microsoft Office Student Edition pre-installed.

When the laptop arrives do I get the licence keys to both softwares? Crucially if I reformat the hard disk, and reinstall Windows and Office using the same licence keys will there be any issues?

The Windows 8.1 product key will be embedded in the BIOS so if you ever need to re-install the key is already on the system. Which Office are you getting? The Office 365 & 2013 suites provide you with a key and you redeem this against your Microsoft account so if you ever need to re-install it or install it on another system (Office 365) then you just go to office.com sign in with your Microsoft account and run the setup from there.
