Just wondering if they are any good?

I know making your own is much better, but I fancy making a pizza tomorrow round at the gf's and she has a big lack of space. Got a load of artichoke, olives and chorizo knocking about. Pizza seems like an ideal.

You could make your own bases, bake them without topping and then take them round and bake them off (you might need to grill them as well if the base ends up getting too far ahead of the topping).

This also work quite well if you need to make pizzas in advance since the sauce doesn't soak into the baked base as much.

EDIT: Other things to to try with pizza might be using a white sauce as a topping, I find ham and leek quite nice. Another good one is Pesto & Goats cheese (and something like spinach).

Making your own pizza dough can be incredibly easy - just stick some 00 flour with yeast, salt, sugar and water in a bowl. Mix it together (just for a minute until it's all combined) then stick it covered up somewhere not freezing for an hour or two. Once done, stick it on a pan and flatten it out with your hand. No need to knead/etc. Stick on your usual toppings and then put it under the grill for 5-7 minutes. After this, put it on a very hot hob for 2-3 minutes and you're done.

Reporting back.

Bought a couple of Sainsburys tomato and garlic pizza breads as recommended above. Whacked mozzarella, grilled artichoke, caramelized onions, green olives and ham on them. Used a little passatta on the base and put in the oven on full whack for 10 minutes. They tasted amazing and the gf was very impressed.

Will be doing these again, though may step it up a level and make the dough myself. :)
