Has 'Value' written all over it i.e. PSU & case. Plus its DDR2 which is EoL.
Adding Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (recommended) to my spec brings the total to around £410.

You're right, I'm going to go for your spec (adding the i3 540)
At the end of the day its just over what hes happy to spend, good quality components and it will easily last years. I also get the fun of putting it all together
