Pre-watercooled 800D

The last time I built a watercooled system was many years ago, I used a Dangerden Maze 3 cpu block for those of you that can remember it... lol

One day things went bang, I had a micro leak dripping in to the AGP slot and over time it built up corrosion, then one day the corrosion obviously joined two things together and I had one dead PC lol we live and learn! I then went back to air...

I have my heart set on a Corsair 800D and seen that OCuk offer this:

Is it a good setup of do you think I'll get more bang for my buck and a better water cooling setup picking my own parts? I was already going to add a 140 rad as the loop will be cooling a 3930K and either a 7970 or 680

Any suggestions and help is much appreciated.

I think that it is good bang for buck but you should still choose separately and build your own. I think the saving is around £50, which to be fair i think is a good price for professionals setting up your water cooling. At the same time though, not only is building your own loop more fun and will help you get back in touch with WCing to help you maintain your new gear, you will also get to choose exactly what you want in the loop.

The 800d is a beautiful case and would have been my case of choice if i had the room for it when i did my last build, but now the 900D is coming out i am very tempted to make space for that. Though more expensive and considerably larger, it does offer some super nice WCing options. For me, a case isn't about how many radiators i can stuff in my loop but rather how many options for different configurations so i can have ultimate flexibility and aesthetic appeal.

I had that DD block too!!

I agree with what Avenged7fold says, you still have some good options for expansion with the 800D, I have a 360 in top and 140 on the outlet and can fit another 140/120 at the bottom without need for modding. It's a wonderful case

The Maze 3 was the best around for it's time

I think I actually still have it somewhere lol

I definitely want to stick with the 800D especially since the 900D won't be here until June at the earliest.

One of the reasons I was considering having OCuk build it for me is for the 24 month warranty, I would love to order all the parts myself then I would be a complete kid waiting for it all to arrive.... it would be like Christmas opening all the boxes but then I have the manufacturers warranties only.

I confirming with OCuk if the system leaked months down the line after they built it and the leak fried something, they would cover that under their warranty.

That to me is a massive plus....

There's a huge amount to be said for that kind of peace of mind but for me the majority of doing stuff like this is to do it for yourself and learn something new (how to use a dremel etc ;D).
