Hi

Bought a prebuilt pc a few years ago and has done the job so far. Looking for some advice on if it would be possible/worth upgrading components rather than buying a whole new pc.

Current PC Spec:

Mediona Akoya E4057D
CPU - AMD A10-5700 FM2 3.4GHz
Memory - 8GB
MOBO – Medion MS-7800 AMD A55
HDD Seagate Barracuda - 1TB
GFX – Onboard 512MB AMD Radeon HD 7660D
PSU - 450w
Windows 8.1

Perhaps just a dedicated graphics card would be the best investment?

If i upgraded the CPU/mobo, how would that affect windows 8.1? It was pre installed so no disk

You can change the CPU no problem. If you changed the mobo, you will need to reinstall windows.

I'm not familiar with the AMD FM2 APU series processors, so I can't tell you what you could upgrade to.

A graphics upgrade is possible though. What do you use the machine for?

Just casual gaming a bit of league of legends, modded minecraft, it has stuggled a bit with modded minecraft though, pretty CPU intensive and with the graphics being on board it will be doing overtime!

I think maybe this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-130-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1982

Not sure if that means i will need a new PSU or if the one i have is sufficient

Thanks for your comment!

been looking around and it seems Medion dont allow you to put a graphics card in, something about the mobo bios not recognising it, apparently people have tried. :/

Looks like i may have to sit tight until i can afford a more substantial upgrade as upgrading the mobo to another FM2 board looks to be a waste on old tech.

Thanks so far for all the advice etc folks, much appreciated
