Precious metals (silver, mainly) investments?

I have a bit of spare cash this month and am thinking of investing in some silver. Gold is too expensive, but the predictions for the rise in silver prices is just as tempting.

I was just wondering whether anybody on this forum was a precious metals investor?

They break into sub stations where I live and steal the high voltage cable.

the problem with silver is the vat - for physical anyway.
or you could go for allocated silver like bullionvault (i think they do silver) - you don't pay vat on that but then you never actually have the silver in your possession.
or get some shares in a major silver miner like silver wheaton that follows the silver price well.

i happen to think the price of silver will go up significantly over the long term (several years) but for the short term its very volatile and not for the faint of heart!
