Hey guys :)

Every time i start my pc from a cold start i notice my pump on the predator is not going. First noticed this when i had crazy high temps when just browsing the internet from a cold start as i have a second monitor with MSI afterburner hardware monitor on it.
So i tried changing the pump header from the predator to my motherboard PWM connector and that seemed to do the trick for a week or so. However it started showing the same symptoms again and i noticed the RPM was sitting at zero when usually its around 3000 - 3100.

It does start up but takes roughly 3-5 minutes to get going and with my overclock i have to make sure everything stays idle at desktop until it starts or temps get very toasty quickly.

Now iv'e owned this unit for just under a year with around 3 months warranty left.
I could go down the route of RMA but i don't know if i can be bothered because i'll have to take off my overclock and put on a older cooler until RMA is sorted. But i'm just wondering would it just not be easier to get a D5 & Res as well as tubing because i want rid of the quick disconnects due to i don't like the look of them anymore. Except i'm not sure how well this would work and if the built in pump would cause problems still.

Any advice guys?

Returned 1 to EK myself this week bacause of similar problem. My first leaked. So many bad stories with these coolers. I put my TXP original cooler back on, went out and grabbed a h100i v2 for my 6800k and thankfully I'm back up and running. Wasn't as bad a job as 1 may think, I was the same I was hating the idea of putting it all back together. I'm down performance on the GPU gaming but my PC is alive. :) Will go full loop soon to replace Predator.

Sounds like RMA time.

That's the thing. I have to mess around taking out the predator 360 which was not easy getting into my case at all. Then i have to take off my overclock slap a old cooler back on. Wait around for what will most likley be 2 weeks to hear anything then a further 2 weeks before i get a working unit back? Which could potentially cause new problems such as leaks if its a different unit i get. Pump works but takes atleast around 5 mins to kick in. I'm just not sure how well it would work getting a D5 pump and res and attaching it to the loop as well as new tubing etc. Im hoping the D5 will help kick the built in pump into gear instantly while having the D5 as a helping hand keeping to a similar RPM.

You paid enough for it. I would definitely RMA it.

In which case you might as well of built a custom loop, but the idea of the Predator is you DONT have the hassle.

Personally I would RMA sir.

Hmm i guess i could ask in the customer services section. I wonder if it's just worth going for a custom loop and going through RMA for the predator, then seeing if i can sell on the predator. But i feel ill take bit of a loss on it.

I will ask the RMA team to see if something like getting an EK-KIT instead of a replacement Predator is possible. I'm not sure they will but i'm curious to know.

Aww man that would be awesome. Id even be happy to put something towards it, say if the kit was worth more than a replacement predator.

I asked about it and we can't exchange a product for another one. But, what can be done is to ask for a refund for your Predator while RMA'ing it and then buy the kit with the refunded money.

This is of course assuming that you bought it from our website. If you bought it from a reseller, then the RMA/refunding process will have to be done with the reseller.

Hey thanks for taking the time to find this out EK Luc. I got my unit from Overclockers so ill take it up with them and hopefully i can get a refund. I didn't think there would be any chance of one tbh. The predator is by far the best AIO ive used its just a shame the pump has started playing up. Besides i should have just gone custom loop originally. What kit would you recommend to replace the predator out of interest?

My favorite kit line is the Performance series (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/kits/performance-series) because it has a D5 pump, which I personally prefer.

But if you don't have the space for a D5 in your case, then the DDC pump will be the obvious choice and in this case (no pun intended). The equivalent kit line for the Predator will then be the Liquid series (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/kits/liquid-series)
