Hi all,

I've got a Predator X34 and am looking for an additional 27 inch monitor for surfing etc. while gaming. This will be to the right of my monitor.

Couple of questions:

Is 27 inch the size I need so that the heights line up?

Any recommendations? I was thinking 1440p too so that the resolution matches and also an acer so the design is similar. Ideally i would get another Predator. Price £200-350. Obviously the less the better. If i could get 1440p 144 hz be nice to have an alternate screen for odd bit of competitive fps.

Would also consider 1080p 60 hz if people think on a side monitor for discord, youtube etc. it wouldn't make any difference.

thanks all

Are 21:9 screens not (slightly) smaller, in terms of screen height compared to 27in 1440p 16:9 monitors? They certainly look like it in pictures and video reviews that I've seen.

I doubt you can get a 27" monitor the same height as your 34", your best bet would be to buy a smaller monitor with the same width of the height of your current monitor and rotate it 90 degrees. You might find a 25" monitor that will match if you look around.

EH? Of course they're the same!! 1440p UW is simply 27" but wider, albeit a fraction of a difference in. 16:9 is actually that tiny bit smaller on height, but you'd never notice. There also may be differences with stands/bezels of course.

Great.

Any monitor you would recommend? As I say it's for surfing, YouTube and discord.

Cheers

You won't have much luck with 144Hz at the lower end of your budget, unless you find an amazing deal or go second hand. For circa £350 though, you could consider the Samsung S27R750QEU and Acer NITRO VG271UP. If you weren't fussed about 144Hz though, you could opt for the cheaper Acer KG271U, or if you wanted another curved monitor, the Samsung LC27JG50.
