Looking to upgrade my ancient Samsung 32" UW which is still working great to something more current. The main use of the monitor will be for Visual Studio Development, so it needs to have clear text. Secondary use will be for gaming. I am running a 3080 and would love a G-Sync version but reading the forum there seems to be quite a few people suffering from noisy fans. I don't like coil whine and any little high pitched fans would drive me nuts.

I have been looking on the forum and obviously everyone seems to be going for the Alienware 32" OLED. Its a lovely price but I'm put of with potentially blurry text, noisy fans and potential screen burn from all the static text that I would be using. I do have two LG OLED 55" CX and 42" C2 which are TV's. I know the 42" might be a good fit but it's a tad too big.

Roughly looking to spend around 1K mark.

Top of the list looks like the Predator X38 and the other is the Samsung G70NC which is waiting on reviews.

Is the X38 worth looking at? Anybody got one? I'm assuming its got a fan for the G-Sync, is it noisy?

There doesn't look like there are too many options that are half decent.

Any thoughts?

Is a 4k panel a must for you? If not have you taken any consideration into the Samsung G55T? Some really good deals to be had on it currently even around £400 for a 34" 165Hz 1ms 1440p UW.
Currently running 3440x1440 so the higher resolution of the 38 for work would be a bonus. Minimum would be to stick with the current resolution which I don’t mind. The main issue I’m seeing is the little fans for g-sync. I’m assuming AMD FreeSync doesn’t have these fans but I loose the low frame sync which should not be a problem with the 3080. I’ll have a look at the G55T, cheers
