Predators (3) is definately happening...

There are some good Alien Omnibus graphic novels and the Pred Omnibus are probably very good too. I've got all the Aliens but no Pred yet - although have read lots of the old Pred cartoons. (I've got Batman Vs Predator :) )

Agreed.

I have the Aliens Omnibus collection by Dark Horse. I also have Predator and Aliens v Predator as well as The Terminator collections.

Couple those with a Judge Dredd and The Punisher collection and I am running out of space to store them.

As for the OP, I will watch the film but for me, 15 rating = crap film.

Alien, 18 = One of the best sci fi horrors ever made.

Aliens, 18 = One of the best action sci fi thrillers ever made.

Predator, 18 = Fantastic stuff.

The less said about Alien Ressurection and Aliens v Predator the better. The first one was atrocious.

That's what really gets me. Predators are arguably the best sci fi creation with so much play but they aren't made into film to their true potential.

^ For those that aren't sure, there's no Hard R rating in the US. It's just a term used by SixTwoSix :) Certain American websites (Arrow) like to push this Hard R thing down their readers throats like it's some sort of God's gift to horror fans, indeed they'd rather readers forget how crap their 'R' rating is (and has been for the past 30 years) and concentrate on bashing movies that are made for their PG13 rating instead.

Thankfully, these days in the US there's sometimes an UNRATED release of a movie on DVD. This can be a double edged sword though. Unrated doesn't necessarily mean extra gore/sex, might just be added padding to the story.

Because all movies have to have a certificate in the UK, The UNRATED title doesn't get used here and is usually replaced with EXTREME or EXTENDED etc.

Bit of trivia..
AvP:Requiem R rated got a 15 cert in the UK
AvP:Requiem UNRATED got a 15 cert in the UK too
If you rented AVP:requiem. you watched the R rated version. If you bought it, you watched the UNRATED version :)

It's a Hard R rating in the US, what's that in the UK? IIRC it's a 15 :(

So what rating in america translates to an 18 over here?

There's an NC17 rating (which means no-one under 17 can be admitted) which is the closest thing the US has to an 18 rating - movie studios will often cut films to receive an R rating though. R can either be a 15 or 18 in this country.

One thing that adds to the greatness of the first two Predator films, is how little you know about Predator.

Films these days are all too eager to fill in all the details, the unknown is far scarier

No that's the closest thing a movie has to a death sentence :) No studio uses the NC17 rating - no cinema will go near it. You're dead right though, because the majority of movies are contractually obliged to deliver an 'R' rating, they really R (sorry) at the mercy of the American censors (MPAA). Luckily though, the last few years, the MPAA have losened up a little probably due to all the gross stuff you can actually see on TV (CSI etc) & all the shi**y CGI gore that's about (Final Destination etc).

Here's one for SixTwoSix

No 'Hard R'. :)

No 'Hard R'. :)

You know this film is going to be a 12A.

Its was a 15 Btw :)

Pretty good, wont win any oscars, isnt at all original, but a decent summer popcorn action film with would you believe it blood and guts. Yes its almost 1988 again.

Good sequel, doesnt outdo the 1st or 2nd ( which i prefer ) but it sits well alongside them. Nicely re-uses the original soundtrack as well.

Been to see this tonight, agree with Neil it was good but by no means revolutionary :p

I wasn't a huge fan of the 2nd film so would say it was probably better than that, but it wasn't a patch on the original.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts on it too after seeing it today. It's a good film, enjoyable to watch, but nothing to shout about.

Well my friend wants to see it so will be watching it tomorrow most likely, will report back with my ever over critical swagger.

It is absolutely awful I mean I cant even express how annoyed and disappointed I am with it....

*SPOILERS*

It takes 3 great scenes from the original and remakes them poorly.

The scene with them all shooting mini gun blazing, awful. In the original they dont even know who their enemy is creating this tense feeling as they are getting there asses whooped by god knows what.
In this they use some strange alien dogs with tusks that look ridicolous and take an age to kill.

The scene with them going over the cliff, doesnt pull it off in the same way. Theres no predator behind them to get that feeling of still being chased/hunted down as arnie is fleaing for his life.

When Billie is on the bridge, one of the toughest guys in the movie who "isnt afraid of any man" stands on the bridge giving himself up as he knows he cant win, ready to sarcrafice himself.
Replaced by a jap mafia dude with a samurai sword who then proceeds to sword fight with an 8ft predator.

O and lets not forget the ending where he cuts down the trapped predator to create an alliance and get free. What is the obsession with this? AvP did the same thing, I half expected them to get off into the sun and become facebook friends.

Predators are cold blooded killers who stalk and toy with their prey before killing, he should have ripped his head off donned his gear and left.

The characters are rubbish, supposely some of the most wanted/deadly men on our planet? Really? So im to believe predators search for FBIs most wanted now? Not even that macho! Look at the original cast incredible about of testostorone and manliness.

I would give this a 2/10, 2 because fishbourne gets turned into mince meat.

In terms of characters I think they were just concerned about filling the equal rights quota and accommodate as many as they could. I wasn't impressed at all, posted my review in the other thread.

Hard to say, I get a feeling a lot of people will like it as popcorn munch kind of film. However, you will probably enjoy it more as a film on its own rather than something that's part of an predator franchise if that makes sense.

I loved Predator 2 but after watching the first one with Arnie in it the dialogue is cringeworthy and is too Gung Ho its still ok though.

If this new one is half as good as the Danny Glover one it should be ok.

I think they should make one where they clear up that loose end at the end of predator 2 where Danny Glover is given an old flint lock pistol I mean what was that all about ?
