Predestination

I thought it was pretty good.

But ultimately nothing is really changing. John/Jane are just trapped within their own loop forever more.
I suppose the work he/she does is important enough for that loop to exist but we don't really find out much about that.

I thought it was a very interesting film. The story didn't have a great deal wrong with it, and treading in the realms of time travel is normally a minefield of terrible writing.
If you savvy enough you can see it coming, but it's nice for us stupid people to have a realisation at the end when it's all tied together.

7.5/10

Quite clever but it never really expands beyond an elaborate version of the:

chicken or egg paradox

Its pretty light on content outside of that central premise and they even joke about the movies shortcomings in that regard in the movie itself (as well as the joke about that premise itself).

While its pretty predictable and you do kind of work out the middle twist before its revealed you still kind of react to confirmation of the middle twist (it was pretty cleverly built upto that) infact I thought it had more impact than the final twist unless you really really didn't see it coming - which you'd have to have never watched a related movie before in your life really to not see it coming.

If you stop at all to think about the bandages and why they hide the face early on its pretty easy to guess where its going from the earliest scenes

Overall though I thought it held up quite well though - the movie pulls off its central premise from both ends and from the middle outwards which is also quite clever.

Watched this afternoon. Nice little film. Did seem a little too spoon fed at the end - "s'ok, I get it" although I guess they felt it needed spelling out just in case. Felt it finished a bit too early but I guess you get the abridged version in the laundrette.

Don't forget the American market.
