Need to share my thoughts here as I'm a bit confused. I joined a bigish company on a short term contract a few years ago and done well enough to get offered a full an extension and ultimatley a full time post. A vacany arose in the department that was effectively a promotion. I applied, passed the tests and several interviews and got the job. The new post was a bit of a step away from my normal server infrastructure role and has required quiet a bit of extra training etc. Effectivley I'm learning on the job. Thing is, its causing a lot of friction between me and the team I left behind and I've noticed that they will go to the guy that did the post before me and only reluctantly ask me things when they have no other option.
I suppose its unrealistic to hope that we can all just get on as we did before? I'm pretty good at my new role (not being bigheaded) and i dont think they like that. Is this common? Coping mechanisms?? I just want to be part of the team and do my job well, be recognized for what I can do. Its not a lot to expect is it?
Opinions welcomed. Thanks for listening
