Doesn't this play into the hands of the conspiracy theorists that suggest United get preferential treatment from referees?

Scudamore's job is to market the EPL 'brand' and he is basically saying this can only be successful if a specific team are doing well. Isn't being unbiased just as important for a Premier League leader?

Besides, what's lost in the East Asian market is gained in the Russian, Middle Eastern and US markets with the resurgence of Chelsea, City and Liverpool.

This is another gaffe from Scudamore, he was quoted in the past telling referees..

....And, remember, you’re not in a sport, you are part of the entertainment business. We don’t want our top players being sent off every week because it’s bad for the brand. We want them on the pitch as much as possible.

resurgence of Chelsea, City and Liverpool.

You what when did they ever come back from anything? Liverpool are still crap they are having one good season and have been crap for years. Chelsea were mid table gavin peacock wonders when we were tearing up the EPL with the likes of Keane and Best and Beckham. And City have just came from mid table and won the EPL and been dumped out of Europe again. How can you call that a resurgence when they havent been up and down? Liverpool have been down but not up (yet) and City and Chelsea have only ever been up since Russian blood money was an acceptable football currency.

The hard pill to swallow mate is, We have always been big starting from Busby to SAF and recently had £700m taken out of the club while our rivals invested probably close to £900+ million with money they should never of had access too apart from official sponsorship deals. If United go down due to those issues people will obviously flock away from football i have done it myself this season as im disgusted that even though everything the club did was honest and through winning on the pitch we stand a good chance of losing it to powers outside of football. Its a bad deal for football, good deal for desperate Liverpool fans who cant face up to the reality that united beat them fair and square and if it was not for all the cheating in world football like Madrid did during the 2000's we would easily be the worlds richest club even after being robbed of £700m.

How many people will admit that United got where they are through pure luck and success like a proper football club is expected to do, While Chelsea,City,Madrid all had to go crying to Russian or Arab billionaire's or Madrid's local goverment to get cash to challange united and buy the likes of Figo,Beckham and the two Ronaldo's. They sold and re-leased thier own training ground at a goverment loss just to raise transfer cash. Can you imagine the uproar if Manchester council bought united robin van persie??

Wasn't George on his fourth liver at this point?

Beat us fair and square at what? Catching up to our domestic success and a weak effort at catching us in Europe?

I've said something similar before although I believe I was referring to referees awarding the odd dodgy decisions to keep the title race alive/interesting for as long as possible, it's not in commercial interests to have a team run away with the title. The Premier League dream of finales like when City won the title in injury time on the last day and while ever there is no video technology to reverse poor decisions they have the ability to influence matches.

Only if you're a paranoid idiot you would think like that. Where in the article does it suggest that Man U get preferential treatment from referees?

Regardless of your adoration or otherwise of any particular club the EPL sells worldwide on the basis of less than a handful of clubs e.g Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. Where 'fans' buy in on the success of these clubs and are more likely to watch if their adopted team is doing well.
