We've had 12 years of the Premiership now, which is around about a footballers career. Who in your opinion are the top 5 players throughout the history of the Premiership? Try to base this fairly, for eg. you may be Ronaldo's biggest fan but 2 years is not worth a mention imo.

Mine:

1. Roy Keane
2. Alan Shearer
3. Gianfranco Zola
4. Peter Schmeichel
5. Dennis Bergkamp

Haven't thought about this hugely, no doubt I will have forgotten someone.

I'd maybe have Eric Cantona instead of Zola though the problem is he didn't spend much of his career in the Premiership.... However, what I am thinking is Cantona was a key figure in making the Premiership the success it is today.

Couldn't really complain with Zola being in his place though.

1: Shearer
2: Keane
3: cantona
4: schmiechel
5: giggs

trying not to be biased :p

bergkamp
Zola
seaman
Adams
Henry

would be in my top ten, and theres bound to be others i've missed.

Cantona was a near miss for me. Retired in 97, wheras Bergkamp is still around, and to be fair, still has a touch of class about him.

Near misses: Cantona, Giggs, Sheringham, Vieira, Speed, Seaman, Southall, Martyn, Adams, perhaps a few more will come to mind later.

I'm not sure about Schmeichel. Yes I am - he shouldn't be in that list. And Cantona shouldn't be in the top 20. Adams should be in - no doubt about him. So my five are

1. Roy Keane
2. Alan Shearer
3. Gianfranco Zola
4. Tony Adams
5. Dennis Bergkamp

Shearer
Keane
Bergkamp (primarily for how breathtakingly awesome he was in 97-8, and the 2002 run-in)
Schmeichel
Adams

It's quite hard to leave out Seaman, Vieira, Giggs, Speed, Scholes and Le Tissier.

Not Giggs? Another player to have played in every season and been a joy to watch in doing so?

Keane has been around for donkeys years too. Beckham has given us plenty of memories during his time here. As has Cantona.

Schmeichel should at least be in there instead of Adams as he was only around until 1998 wasn't it? Thats 5 years of the Premiership. Even old man Schmeichel managed 6 with Man United and 1 with City :p

Nope, Adams was captain when Arsenal won the league in 2002 :)

Steve bould through ball, tony adams left-foot halfvolley from 30 yards - BAM, 4-0 to celebrate winning the title.
