So now I've got a nice well looked after bike, thats going to have to be a commuter through the winter I've been planning ahead to keep it that way.

I was thinking this month, oil and filter change, air filter change, and replace the coolant. just so i know it's got a solid base.

keep it sprayed with the FS365 oil the person i bought it off gave me and keep the chain lubed with he dry lube.

next month fit a tutoro chain oilier to keep the chain lubed through winter and for the rest of the bikes life.

then come November, strip all the fairings off, wash the bike down with muck of or similar to get it all clean, cover all the electrical connection with Vaseline (got a huge tub from work) then coat all over with acf50 spray, and then wash with the hose (without removing fairings though) once a week on Friday and touch up anything that needs it with acf50.

then come spring, strip fairings off, clean everything agai nwith muck off, clean all the connections back to clean and replace the vaseline then return to using fs365, on the exposed parts.

think this will do to keep it in good nick through a harsh winter of use?

Seems like a good plan if you want to keep it in good condition to me.

I will be doing something similar, usually I just whip off the fairings, clean and then coat everything with ACF50, then clean all the fairings and polish, make sure the brake pistons and seals are all in good condition and then over the winter all I do is wash it with cold water after every ride if there has been salt.

Set up a garden hose so you can wash the salt off the bike every time you bring it home.
FS365 is brilliant stuff, Kept my Chinese Chopper chrome mint & that was kept outside under a cover for 13 months or so.

Keep a clean bucket of water at hand for when you get home and give the brake`s a good scrub with a brush every-night you come home, try to get in and around the calipers and once a week give them a squirt of brake cleaner. I only do this once they start spreading salt again though and a good month till its finished.

+ 1 for ACF50.

Heat a small pot of water (not too hot) to warm the can up and apply to a microfibre cloth (very light application) and then rub down everywhere apart from discs, grips (hand and foot) and speedo.

ACF50 is a creeper so do not dump loads on if still riding through winter.

Yeah ACF50 for them behind fairing areas, FS365 for the rest! can't go wrong, Also WD40 works a treat.

As mentioned brakes will take a hit over winter so look after them!

I refuse to use mine when the salt is down as I don't mind riding in snow/winter but my OCD due to cleaning is insane and drives me potty!

creeper and why not?

cant beat a regular spray of wd40 imo,on all the fasteners/wheels/shock and linkages, electrical parts ect

just wash it regularly to keep the salt off esp the calipers/wheels and spray with wd40

hasn't failed me yet ride all year round

no its an oil,it disperses water from all electrical parts and is non conductive,so wont short circuit anything

idk,i know theres types of oil in it,whatvers in it I would recommend it for protecting electrical parts and metal that corrodes easily

ACF50 is the best you can buy. There are a few places that will apply it with a paint spray gun which is the most effective way of getting complete coverage
