Was using my Compaq Presario 2100 when it just switched itself off and now won't restart :(

Didn't get any problems just before was running fine, any idea's would be appreciated?

Thanks

Would it work if the battery wasn't slotted in?

I've tried it but still no joy :(

I'm not getting any lights on the front to confirm its charging and the battery isn't getting warm. The corner of the laptop where the adapter plugs in is warm so I'm thinking the charger is ok and its probably the battery?

Anyway of confirm this?

I've just read that even with the battery taken out the laptop should work if the PSU is on??? anyone know if this is the case?

It certainly does (or should do) because I've done that with my laptop at home.

If there is no lights on then it could be either the PSU (borrow a replacement off a mate to test if you can) or possibly that the whole system has just died but that is a bit more unlikely.

can't get it working tried my other laptops PSU note getting any lights to indicate power getting through.

I'm just trying to ply the case off but seems snagged in the middle I can't see anymore screws  anyone ever taken one of these apart?

I'm having a prob with my presario (2500) right-click menu constantly popping up - even when not touching the lappy!!

I've managed to find a page on the HP/Compaq support site that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to take everything apart...

Start at THIS PAGE and select your particualr model (from the plate on the underside of your lappy if you're not sure)

Good luck ;)
