Prescription sunglasses?

I'm getting a bit fed up of squinting all the time around this time of year, and baseball caps aren't always the perfect solution. So I need to get some prescription sunglasses.

I'm not interested in transitions, as they always make you look like a paedo when they're half-converted ;)

So my question is, do any high street shops do sunglasses frames that are designed for prescription lenses? Or will I have to put sunglasses lenses in regular frames? Ta :)

You can do either :)

I prefer sunglass lenses in regular frames myself, sunnies are generally too big these days for my tastes.
 
I normally go to Boots for my glasses, so I guess i'll pop in and see what they can do.

I hope the sunglasses lenses aren't too pricey though, don't want to spend another £250-£300 just for the 3 days a year that it's sunny :(

Glad you asked as I am picking a pair up once I get paid.

What did you have in mind to purchase? I want something stylish but discreet I can wear out and about, nothing like a welding visor though.

Yep thats the problem I have its a gamble on the weather for whether you get your monies worth.
 
Just rang up my local store, and they said they have a range of sunglasses on promotion atm. Some designer frames, including tinted lenses for around £99.99 all in! Will definately check this out today / tomorrow :)
 
i got some mirrored lense raybans which are pretty cool for £111 from dolland and aitchinson last week :)
 
I'm looking for replacement pairs of glasses and sunglasses at the moment, and the best deal I've found so far (i think) is at specsavers. They're doing a free second pair - which can be tinted as sunglasses for free. Both frames can be designer brands (all except the rimless type), so at most, its £125 for 2 pairs, one of which are sunglasses.

Thats all with standard lenses, so if you have a high prescription, its gonna cost more for the thin lenses..

Just need to decide which ones would look better tinted now :D

However I can guarantee that the workmanship at Boots will not be great. The company that are making their sunglasses are poor. Trust me ;)
 
I paid £280 for a pair of prescription sunnies with nice Ted Baker frames from my local optician the other week. Decent Rodenstock lenses in 'em too. He gave me a decent discount, as I'd already paid £450 for a normal pair of specs there a couple of months ago :)

Expensive business having crap eyes :D
 
Got my pair of prescription sunnies from Vision Express, cost £50 including lenses. They are not amazing quality but they are rimless and look ok, can't see them lasting forever but for the price and the amount I use them they are perfect.
 
I'm waiting for my prescription Ray-Bans to arrive from my local opticians.
Cost me £260 as my eyesight is quite poor so I paid extra for thin lenses.

Can't wait.
 
I've never worn glasses before but it looks like I'll be getting some soon which I'll mostly be using whilst driving. My vision is good enough meet the legal requirements for driving without glasses but I'm finding that I struggle to read roadsigns as early as I could do. A recent eyetest has confirmed that some glasses would improve things.

Currently when driving I tend to put my (non-prescription) sunglasses on if it's in the slightest bit bright so to me sunglasses are a higher priority than normal glasses but I've been disappointed by the lack of choice. Ideally I want something that actually look like sunglasses rather than looking like normal glasses with tinted lenses but without spending a fortune on some prescription Oakleys there doesn't seem to be a lot out there.
 
I bought some glasses from specsavers last week and was £125 for quiksilver frames with normal + tinted lenses, can get different frames but I decided to go for the same ones and a picture be below:

they are exactly the same frames I have for my sunglasses from specsavers...got mine with polarising lenses though as I go fly fishing
