Present and future Sci-Fi MMORPG's?

I'm bored with WoW and can't be bothered to play it any longer.

I want another MMORPG to play, but I'm sick and tired of fantasy games, I'm after something a little more sci-fi.

Played Anarchy Online for a good few years, enjoyed that, but I've had my fill, tried Eve but never got into it.
Only other MMORPG that I've played was City of Heroes, good game, but after 2 years it's got a little repetitve.

Are there any decent sci-fi MMORPG's out at the moment, or coming out in the near future?
Preferable something with PvE servers, since I stink at PvP :(

Try it again and give it more of a chance, after Kali is released it's a perfect time to start Eve, advanced learning skills only require basic ones at level 4 and you get like 800k SP at creation.

Theres Neocron and Matrix Online. I've personally not tried them myself so I can't comment. They're worth a look at if you're after Sci-Fi though.

As for ones coming out in the future, take a look at Tabula Rasa. It'll be awhile before its out, but its being made by the founding father of MMORPG's Richard Garriot and Starr Long, whatever they touch turns to gold. Really looking forward to this.

Personally I cant wait for a new MMO, but my expectations are kinda set high from previous games which I wont bother saying because it hurts :(

I've been looking into LOTR online it doesnt really look to be my thing but I spose i'll have a dabble.

Matrix Online

One word review = pants!!

One of the laggiest, buggiest games i have ever played, unless its improved over the last 2 years i seriously would not try it!

if you thought matrix online was bad, do NOT try neocron. has a community of about 50 players now, it really is one of the worst mmo's out there right now.

lotro looks awesome, like a week form side to side and u can go anywhere when its finished but at release its like the coast to lorien or something

Its also an extremely good game if you can get past the steep learning curve and the graphics which look a bit dated

I'll be restarting AO for a month in december on Rimor (RK2) if anyone fancies trying it out, although I am not sure how much I'll be around since I work nights :P

Yep, was good fun about 3 years ago, but now it's just dead.

thats why it was amazing if you gave the game chance but only for high lvls.... i had 2 max lvls, but after sony took over no point in picking it up again.

I would give my hind teeth for a good Star Wars MMORPG with complex Tie-Fighter (the game) style space combat, and Jedi Knight II style FPS planet-based action.

*dreams*

Again, not released yet but keep an eye on Tabula Rasa, it looks stunning :)

Yep, this will be an amazing game. With the ability to clone your character along the way so you can have one specialised in something different. No more making of alts.

Richie.

Now go and actually read the original post :p

The Warhammer Online that's being made is the fantasy one, not Warhammer 40,000. More's the pity :(

Edit - there was a rumour a while back that Bioware were working on a star wars one set in the knights of the old republic era. Haven't heard anything about it for a while now though.

There's also a game already out called Face of Mankind. I have no idea what it's like though.

the clowns really need to make a multiplatform pokemon RPG,

or maybe a dragonball Z RPG... however i think having a game based mainly around fighting and stuff would be a bit lame (like city of heroes)

Freelancer as an RPG would be awsome too...

flying around in space, with millions of others (like Eve online but with twich play). Also you should be able to land on planets, and walk around at least to some extent.
