Nice enjoy, and like a slide show when you run out of vram :D

Are you coming down from 120/144hz? Although you'll have the lovely gsync which does wonders with 4k you'll feel the 60hz.

yes but im keeping a Swift 144hz in the cupboard with my other 7 monitors, although i generally set a cap of 80FPS in FPS shooters anyway. (to be in sync with servers)

well i will be upgrading to Pascal At launch like i did with 980s. but this time aftermarket/Tittan Tis...

but atm im playing WoW & bit of W3.

rest of the games are quite light. like Siege.

Is that 980s in SLI?

Performance must be a bit higher than a 980ti is it? Can't be that much of a stutter fest at 4k surely?

It's amazing just how much people underestimate 4k. It's a serious, crazy FPS killer.

I ran two Titan Blacks in SLI for 4k and the results were far from pleasing. In quite a few games I had to reduce some of the settings down to medium (Witcher 3 for example) and then had all sorts of problems with Gsync and SLI.

Whilst one 980ti/Fury X isn't really enough for 4k either making the switch for me has saved my sanity. Nvidia have really let SLI support slip, and there are also issues with SLI and Gsync where you get terrible flickering whenever you move. It felt like I was playing drunk and made me feel rather ill.

And then of course there are the games that don't support SLI and never will.

I still think that it's too early to go 4k. Part of me wishes I'd have gone for a Swift 1440 or something similar. Until Pascal full fat comes out (ages) as well as AMD's next high end card (even more ages) it's still not something you can really do on a single GPU if you don't want to compromise.

My advice? stay well away. Full fat Pascal is still a very long way off and SLI and Gsync can be problematic. 4k will be all well and good in 2-3 more high end GPU releases but right now it involves a whole load of compromise that you will probably not be happy with if you are used to maxing out games at 1080p and 1440p.

He can just drop a few settings until he gets his new GPUs, and like he says, hes got all his old monitors in a cupboard so if any game is too much he can always grab another monitor. Meanwhile his WoW and other such games will look great, i can only imagine how much UI space ya get in WoW using 4k.

I don't take anything likely I've tested all my games using resolution scaling or dsr to test increased screen size4k is 43% more than 1440p

Bf4 143% resolution scaling constant 80fps could go higher but limited it.

WoW 143% scaling constant 140+fps

BioShock infinte 70fps+

Not saying new games wint struggle but the games ATM run ok. Well enough for me to wait on pascal

980s won't run out, from experience. No doubt they get close but they wont run out :). Bf4, skyrim, mordor, metro, crysis, cod, GTA V all tested with maximum settings. They will be out of power before then and under 60hz anyway.

You will really notice the difference from 120-144 to 60hz though. I sold my 4k monitor because of it. I can't take anything under 100 with a mouse. 85 is fine with a controller. Depends on preference, i prefer smoothness to resolution. Others prefer it the other way around. 4k is very nice though!

I just ordered myself the new swift IPS 1440p 165hz, couldn't be bothered to wait until Xmas lol :D.

With GTX 980s @2160p it depends how many you use.

1 or 2 cards are ok if you turn the settings down a bit.

3 or 4 cards and you are running higher settings and hitting the 4gb VRAM limit.

Even Small Pascal in SLI will be limited as it won't have more than 8gb of VRAM and there are games that can top that already.

Yeah that was my point, ya have nothing to lose. I wish my 290s would run 4k, ive tried a few games with VSR/scaling but it just hasnt got the power for over 1440p.

You'll have to let us know how the monitor performs, i have a mate who has bought a 980ti sli rig recently and hes stuck on 1080p atm as hes waiting for a decent 4k monitor.
