I got a laptop from work but the OS is locked down. I ghosted the machine and resized the disk and installed a 2nd copy of XP and this worked fine until i booted back into the work copy of XP. On rebooting back into the copy i installed the work copy of XP corrupted and killed the install of XP that i put on.

Is there anything i can install on my copy of XP to prevent my works copy of xp from seeing or detecting my copy of xp ?

Put them on different disks.

Windows operating systems like being the primary partitions on the drive (Before anyone says otherwise: I know you can have more than one Windows install on the same drive - however, generally they need to be different versions of Windows and the older version usually needs installed first).

Or use GRUB (GRand Universal Bootloader) instead of NTLDR - which would be my choice.

u can install 2 identical versions of xp on a hard drive if it has partitions... i used to have mine setup like that. 1 was for gaming and the other for general use.
