Is there a way to prevent a VPN connection from terminating after x minutes of inactivity?

Checked through all the options on the clients to make sure it doesn't drop the connection and they are all fine.

Strange thing is, the actual connection remains connected, just the server stops responding until the VPN connection is redialed.

Any ideas lads?

Really stuck on this one, googled till I can google no more but only got random and unrelated problems/solutions.

Simple fix. just setup a continuous ping to a server at the other end of the VPN and leave minimised, i.e. in command prompt:

Ping (name or IP of local server) –t

That will keep you connected :)

Tried that running from client side and then server side, still the connection just "dies".

I've checked all the usual options and don't see anything wrong with the configuration.

IAmATeaf and siloleth, mind sharing how your connecting, the equipment and software your using and the configurations?
