Preview.app document

So i downloaded Disk Inventory X to check out what was using all the space on my hard drive.

Found some old 3Gb ISO files in the vmware folder and stuff I could delete and a few other largish files. All in all I regained about 10Gb.

It highlighted files using preview.app which was 14gb or so. Does anyone know what this is?

Not sure what you mean. Preview is the application that allows you to view images/pdf files etc. You question isn't clear. What is 'it' and what are you asking for details about?
