Been getting a few bsod's the last few days when gaming, (bfbc2 + Red orchestra 2). Decided to try running LinX, failed in seconds, ram at 7-7-7-24, 2t command rate. Slackened the ram out to 8-8-8-27, ran LinX and it completed 16/20 passes before stopping on error. Bios screens below of settings.

The above settings ran fine the last few months, tested succesfully using LinX a while back.

Wondering what would be the cause of sudden instability?

I would be a bit worried about the DRAM BUS Voltage you are pushing there.

Have you recently updated the BIOS ? or changed anything else on the system ? be it flashing firmware on devices or added any new hardware (memory, sound cards etc) ? Also which PSU do you have and how old is it ?

Havd a go at running mem test you might have a faulty memory module.

1.66v for ram should be fine, 1.65v is the max for i7 9xx range.

I'd second the suggestion by RJC for a strip down and retest. It's the only way to be absolutely sure.

I've had a Crucial Ballistix DDR2 stick die on me due to pumping 2.01v through it, it was only 0.01v above it's 2v recommended cap. There was nothing else I could think off that changed in the settings/system, fortunately Crucial has a lifetime warranty, and they directly swapped it.

Ran a quick half hour pass on memtest last night, no errors in that time. The only recent hardware addition was a 120gb ocz vertex 2e ssd, (no other hdd's currently installed, no bios update. Psu is a corsair hx 850w just under two years old.

Yep, will give it a try mate, thankfully i have detailed notes of previous stable settings for 4ghz.

21x193
