Played the prey demo with no problems at all on this setup with forceware 91.31. Then installed the latest X-fi drivers and noticed some odd artifacts within the demo. Tearing and some flicking textures. Got the original game which played perfectly until it loads the level (spoiler warning) just after you die. Get a loads of pixels on the screen and the game crashes everytime.

reinstalled Forceware drivers and the soundcard drivers and its exactly the same. Has anyone else had this problem ??

Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4Ghz Socket 775 800mhz 2mb Cache
Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400 TwinX (4x512MB)
XFX GEFORCE 7900GTX 512MB DDR3 TV + DUAL DVI PCI-E
Creative Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme Music - Retail

Sounds to me it could be you 7900GTX,i would download 3D Mark 06 & see how it copes with the "Deep Freeze" test.Mine always artifacted & crashed on this.Possibly it's just conincidence that this has started to happen since you updated you X-FI drivers. If it's all ok in 3D mark i would uninstall you X-FI drivers & card and see if this cures your problem. But this looks like classic 7900GTX dying syndrome.

Might want to put a spoiler warning on that, your description of a bit of the game could spoil it slightly.

Cheers for that.

Strangely enough my 3mark is crashing even after reinstall. All my other games work perfectly though. BF2, Q4, D3 etc

I really hope my cards not dying. Had it for 6 1/2 weeks

Doe's it crash on "The Big Freeze" test?

just ran it. It runs ok for 30 odd seconds then the graphics go all to hell. Once it finishes it goes back to desktop wihich is also all to hell. Had to restart my pc. :(

It's your card then by the sounds of it,same happened to mine.In the end i got a refund & bought a 7950GX2 and touch wood no problems yet.

Be aware that the deep freeze maxes out pretty much every feature of a GFX card. Recent tests on high end cards have shown that this test draws around an extra 60W from the mains so it will also show any weaknesses in a PSU. :)
