Prey2 looks like it may have been cancelled by Bethesda

Sad if true it looked really promising :mad:

& was one of the highlights on PC in 2012 as it looked pretty good. Prey1 was & still is a classic game

Bethesda must be insane. They fund garbage like Brink & Rage then cancel this as those 2 games underperformed due to their low quality :rolleyes:

yet their flush with cash from Skyrim success :rolleyes:

I hope this project can get another publishers attention elsewhere & resurface in a few months like Stalker 2 did.

While Brink might have been a disappointment (I really liked it, it sold well over a million copies but dropped in price very quickly) and Rage failed to sell as much as it needed to (a great game, around 3 million total sales?), I doubt either of those had much to do with Prey 2 being cancelled. I'd turn the blame more towards games like Rogue Warrior, Hunted: The Demon's Forge and WET. But until someone spills the beans, we can only guess. Might have something to do with development delays for example. Last major game from Human Head Studios was the original Prey six years ago. That's a long time.

It'll be a shame if Prey 2 is cancelled, though from the preview I've seen, it didn't seem to have much of a link to the first one.

IMO this isn't such sad news. The game didnt look that great from the videos. Yeah sure it had some interesting concepts but it just looked awful, too dark and boring.

Plus it wasn't even really a Prey sequel and I think that could be a partial failing. People who enjoyed the First game wanted a sequel. The first game didnt sell that well anyway so if your going to do a sequel you make a direct sequel not a weird "in the same universe" sequel that nobody who played the first game wanted.

Prey was garbage so no great loss. Played the demo, bought the game and quickly realised I could've saved my money and just played the demo for 4/5 hours.

I agree gameplay wise it didn't look like anything special, but the setting the game was based in looked amazing. I hope it isn't canceled

Much the same info in my link, except at the end:

"This isn't the first time this year a high-profile Bethesda title made its way into the rumored cancellation mill, as DOOM 4 went through the experience twice in six month. The difference? Bethesda flat-out stated "DOOM 4 isn't cancelled.""

So it might well be true.
