Price drop

Doubt it, they weren't last time bar the Q6600... Intel introduce new processors and make their old line EOL. Remember when the E6X50 line came out? All the E6X00/40 processors were made redundant, they didn't drop prices because Intel won't sell them cheaper as they want to push their new line. This is made far easier if Intel don't have to compete against their own products.

Unlikely.

Intel usually keep the old chips at their current prices and introduce the new chips at far lower prices.

Not a chance, the above reasons and this, BBC News Site:

Intel, which makes microchips that power most of the world's computers, added to the gloomy outlook. Its quarterly results, released late on Tuesday, disappointed many investors and its sales forecast was lower than had been expected.

The company's shares fell 12% in early trade on Wednesday.

In fact, if anything, they may go up with the falling dollar.
