When do you think the prices will drop on the high end cards?
Will it be a case of waiting for the next release of cards or because of mining will it stay relatively high?

I may be asking in vain but I plan on pressing the buy button in the next few months and wondered if it was worth waiting at all?

AMD cards...no drop only increases due to the mining sheeple

Nvidia...not sure, gradual drops until the next cards come out I reckon.

If a better way of scrypt mining comes out (either a dedicated device or a more efficient GPU) then the market will be flooded with 280xs.

Nvidia cant really afford to cut prices on the 780 as if its to cheap people might not buy the 790 when released.

Also if the 780tis take a price drop titan black will also be affected when its released on the 18th.

I think we will see the odd few deals but nothing serious.

AMD if the mining crazy finishes there will probably be a drop and a lot of second hand cards

what card you have now?

I dont really have one. I am using a gaming laptop at the minute which is adequate but fairly dated now. I ask because I am tweaking around with my first proper build which i'll be buying in the next few months.

The money is there its just always nice to know what the markets are doing so i dont "lose money" after a week of purchase.

Cheers for all the responses, all makes sense. I hope they do something about the mining craze...not sure what they would do really though.....a cpu/gpu combo that can handle it??

Bitcoin price down ~50% in last day (and ~75% in last 10 weeks) so may be the demand by miners is going to drop off!
Most miners are nothing to do with bitcoin nowadays, it's other similar currencies such as dogecoin, litecoin etc. If their value has dropped and stays low then mining will drop, but if it rebounds then miners will simply have to hold onto their coins slightly longer to make the same profit. It will dent interest from those just inquiring about the profitability of mining I guess.

i dont see any major price drops looming. But if your not building your pc for a few months you might aswell wait till nearer the time and nab a special deal when you see one pop up :)
