hi there i plan to build in janaury with vista for about £650.

I would like to get a core 2 duo, about 2gig ram, and maybe a dx10 card but prob a dx9 7900, and a 19" widescreen.

Do you think that the prices will have dropped for the above by then as it is quite expensive at the moment, i was thinking the release of the refreshed set of core 2 duo and the quadro may bring prices down for the core 2 duo current.

Thanks for any replys,

There is usually a price drop of some sort after the christmas rush, whether it includes the parts you are looking is a different matter.

Vista (HATE)

Better off with linux :P but windows 64bit pro isnt bad. I hate how you have to buy a new copy of vista everytime you replace some hardware.

Prices drop everyday, it just takes a while for EVERYONE to update their prices. First some company buys from the main manufacturer, then, some other company buys off them, then another off them and then finally overclockers buy from them selling to you the public (this cycle can actually be bigger).

ye well i doubt i will get vista if the licensing issue is on the oem version!

And hopefully the parts im after will be included in january sales!

Well i have tried linux and it is very good but i need windows for compatibility and games really so unless they sort out their licensing issues with vista i will buy xp and get vista in the far far future.
